9-7-11 - Compensation for Essential Personnel during Early Dismissal

During the period of early dismissal of staff, at noon on Thursday, September 15, most employees will receive their regular rate of pay and will not be required to work. However, non-exempt (support staff) essential personnel, assigned to work by their respective department heads, will receive premium pay at the rate of two and one-half times the regular rate (one and one-half times in addition to regular pay) for all hours worked during the period of closing (12:00 Noon-5:00 p.m.). This rate applies both to regular hours and to overtime hours, regardless of the number of hours worked in the workweek involved.

Funding for the additional pay will be from departmental budgets. Just as was the case last year, extra revenue from the Thursday night football game will be shared with divisions and colleges and should be considered as possible funding for the premium pay.
