FLSA Key Changes

  • Based on the DOL’s updated salary level, MSU employees whose annual paid base salary falls below $47,476 or $913 a week and are not otherwise exempt are now subject to the 2016 updated FLSA regulations governing overtime and recordkeeping. MSU has designated these employees, including those who were previously classified as exempt, as non-exempt.
  • Following FLSA regulations, non-exempt employees must record all hours worked, including overtime. Your supervisor will discuss with you the method to record your time and for obtaining advance approval to work overtime.
